Coronavirus Responses & Impacts Bioeconomy Survey Results – March 2020

March 19, 2020 |

Comments from readers. What special actions are you taking, what impacts are you seeing? In short, what’s happening and what should happen as you see it?

  • Gross negligence and incompetence at the federal level rising to the point of criminal. Decisive and thoughtful leadership at the state and local level is helping to offset failures at the federal level. We forecast opportunities in the intermediate term (say 6-18 months) where companies will begin to take action in updating their supply chain to add redundancy and to move away from sole-sourcing from China.
  • The government must become more proactive and lead the nation instead of sitting back and bragging on how great a job they have done. states and individuals are taking the lead on fighting the virus instead of our president.
  • Our organization is a national one and the policies come from the top management. whatever they decide the lower organization like us has to follow. so far the policies on stay at home if no urgent matters to attend outside, work from home, social distancing, among others, are they ones strictly being implemented under the national policy on enhanced community quarantine.
  • Biology is a funny thing. It precludes any definitive dates for anything in this situation. It precludes most of everything including containment except for the protocols for abatement if that is even possible.
  • I would like to see the media not stirring up panic as they have been.
  • Societal lock down is the only current sure fire method to slow the spread of the virus. Although the cost is enormous it is less than the likely potential losses should we not do so.
  • We are in total shutdown. This is truly a disaster for our country and world. Not sure we are over reacting but need to follow Trumps leadership. We need to really come together when this is over and rebuild this country! together with government policies now and future are posing. Critical that employees and transporters are able to continue working. Critical that key industries are allowed to continue to operate.
