Coronavirus Responses & Impacts Bioeconomy Survey Results – March 2020

March 19, 2020 |

Notes on the survey:  During the week of March 16-20, 2020, The Digest surveyed its readers on how they were impacted by the Coronavirus health & economic crisis, and how they were responding. We wrote:

At a time when we’re isolated, comparing notes on the actions we are all taking to meet the health crisis, and the economic impact, is more important than ever. And yet, many of the tools and forums we typically use to get together to compare notes and benchmark our actions are unavailable to us right now. So, please take a moment to complete this industry survey on responses and impacts – I believe we will all benefit by having an opportunity to make comparisons.

9 questions were asked (aside from basic demographic information):

  1. What actions are you taking or likely to take in the next 30 days regarding business operations, as a result of the global health crisis?
  2. How has the crisis impacted your business operations, or how do you expect it to impact operations?
  3. How has the crisis impacted your business planning, or how do you expect it to impact planning?
  4. How would you rate the morale at your organization and its supply and value chain?
  5. What public policy actions would do the most, in your view, to limit any downside impact for your organization, value chain, and community in the health crisis?
  6. What special actions are you taking, what impacts are you seeing that we haven’t mentioned? In short, what’s happening and what should happen as you see it?
  7. Are you more optimistic about your organization’s prospects for growth today than 12 months ago?
  8. Are you more optimistic about the industry’s prospects for growth today than 12 months ago?
  9. Do you expect to see more mergers and consolidations in the next 12 months, compared to the past 12, in your sector?
