The bioeconomy’s pioneers are an optimistic bunch, and generally are far more optimistic than pessimistic about the next 12 months,. That’s changed, now. 70 percent are pessimists about 2020-21, relative to how we felt just a year ago. It would be fair to speculate that readers would have answered they were more pessimistic about their prospects for growth than 3 weeks ago.
Having said that, this question is not about surviving, but thriving. It asks about optimism for “growth” as opposed to optimism that “we’ll be here, and tomorrow’s another day”. So, some of the pessimism is baked into the question.
