In Lima, Peru, designer Valeria Coello has reimagined bulky carboard packaging for TVs to become seating. She hopes the concept, which she calls Cuna, will offer a solution “that is as practical as it is environmentally friendly.”
The seat is created from two sheets of cardboard joined by five additional pieces, no glue or screws needed. Yanko Design says the benches are “remarkably sturdy and surprisingly lightweight.”
Coello’s design also allows for two possible configurations: a bench, or seating for one person, complete with handrests. Two benches together can form a table. Coello hopes the concept will have people considering ways to upcycle packaging from other appliance and electronics, or even pizza boxes.
