Egypt, Germany discuss ways to boost green hydrogen cooperation

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Zawya reported that the Egyptian Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker met with Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany, Stefan Wenzel, to discuss ways of boosting green hydrogen and renewables cooperation. According to the report, Shaker expressed Egypt’s intention to diversify energy resources and expanding renewable energy projects, referring to the sector’s strategy which targets increasing the contribution of renewable energy to more than 42% of the national electricity mix by 2035. The report also stated that the Egyptian minister highlighted the successful cooperation with German company Siemens in the establishment of three power plants with capacities of 14.4 GW.
