In Kenya, Pumps Africa reported that Egypt has launched a comprehensive national low-carbon hydrogen strategy as part of its broader “Egypt Vision 2030” initiative. The strategy, announced by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, is designed to transition Egypt towards a more sustainable and diversified energy portfolio, while addressing climate change goals, according to the report. The report noted that key aspects of the strategy include boosting domestic hydrogen production and consumption, with an initial focus on strengthening the local green hydrogen market before expanding to exports. The government anticipates that this strategy will have a significant impact on the economy, potentially increasing GDP by around $18 billion and creating approximately 100,000 jobs by 2040. The strategy was developed in collaboration with international partners, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the report added.
