Embraer sells first ethanol-powered agricultural aircraft via BNDES Climate Fund

August 8, 2024 |

In Brazil, Aeroflap reports Embraer announced the sale of its first ethanol-powered Ipanema 203 aircraft through the BNDES Climate Fund program. This sale, completed in July under the “Automatic Climate Fund” mode, supports the acquisition of machinery and equipment aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change. The aircraft delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.

The National Development Bank offers this financing at competitive rates of about 10% per year, ensuring resources for projects and equipment that promote environmental sustainability. This initiative underscores Embraer’s leadership in the Brazilian agricultural aviation market, where it holds a 60% market share.

The Ipanema 203, powered by ethanol, is used extensively for spraying solid or liquid agricultural products, including biological pesticides, seeds, water, and pesticides. It has recently completed tests to approve the first aerial application methodology of biological pesticides in Brazil, a project led by Koppert, a global leader in agricultural bioinputs.

This sale highlights the growing trust in the Ipanema 203, known for its high productivity and low operating costs, and marks a significant step in promoting sustainability within the agricultural sector.
