In Germany, EnBW confirmed it will start marketing green hydrogen from a local facility. From 2025, the new power-to-gas plant at Energiedienst’s Wyhlen hydropower plant will produce up to 720 metric tons of green hydrogen per year, which will be available to supply industrial and other customers in the border region of Germany, Switzerland and France. By requesting proposals for these quantities, EnBW is already offering prospective customers the opportunity to secure capacity volumes of green hydrogen. The request for proposals starts on 17 April 2023. EnBW subsidiary Energiedienst already operates an alkaline power-to-gas plant at Wyhlen with an electrolysis capacity of one megawatt. This has been producing green hydrogen since 2019. “EnBW is systematically evaluating the potential and opportunities of hydrogen along the entire value chain, from production and trading to transport, storage and distribution,” the company said.
