In Sweden, shipping firm Erik Thun took delivery of Thun Vettern, from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard equipped with dual-fuel capabilities, allowing operation on LNG/LBG or gasoil. The 17,999 dwt vessel is ice class 1A and is equipped for shore power connection when available in ports. This latest addition to the “Vinga-series,” was designed in collaboration with Furetank and FKAB, focusing on sustainability and emissions reduction.
The Thun Vettern and its sister ships achieve the highest Energy Efficiency Design Index in their segment globally, according to the International Maritime Organization. Designed for the rigorous conditions of the North Sea and Scandinavian trades, they meet the rising European demand for biofuels and renewable feedstocks.
Johan Källsson, Managing Director at Erik Thun stated the company’s focus on sustainability and the Thun Vettern exemplifies “our vision to be a sustainable Swedish partner for generations,” Upon delivery, the Thun Vettern will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network under the technical and commercial management of Furetank.
