In Egypt, Offshore Energy reports The European Union and Egypt have solidified their partnership with the signing of €40 billion worth of agreements which included green hydrogen and green ammonia production. These deals were highlighted at the EU-Egypt Investment Conference in Cairo held June 29-30, co-organized by the EU and the Egyptian government.
Notable projects announced include UK oil major bp’s development of a green hydrogen project aimed at exports, and a collaboration between French energy company Voltalia and TAQA Arabia to create a significant green hydrogen production facility powered by renewable energy. Additionally, Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec and its partners have outlined a plan with Yara Clean Ammonia for the offtake of renewable ammonia from a new production facility in Damietta.
The agreements reflect a significant commitment to advancing the energy transition in the region, with the EU providing up to €1 billion in macro-financial assistance to support Egypt’s green transition and economic stability.
