In Europe, biodiesel prices have fallen to $800 per metric ton from $1,000 per ton but are still nearly double fossil diesel prices of around $480 a ton, about half what they were in mid-2014. Oil companies are complaining that blending with biodiesel is wearing away at refining margins.
