In Michigan, the Associated Press reports that hundreds were evacuated from their homes 100 miles outside of Minneapolis following a train derailment in the early hours Thursday that led to 22 cars carrying ethanol and corn syrup jumping the track, with four catching fire. Residents were allowed back into their homes late Thursday morning. Officials from the Environmental Protection Agency were on site by 6:30am to investigate the derailment. No injuries or fatalities were reported due to the derailment.
