In Finland, shipping operator Finnlines is evaluating plans for a €400-500 million Green Investment Programme for the Finland-Germany route, including investments in green technology and green fuel-powered vessels, aimed at lowering CO2 emissions and enhancing environmental performance.
In February, Finnlines completed their €500 million Green Newbuilding Programme. This initiative introduced five new vessels equipped with advanced energy-saving technologies, significantly boosting fleet capacity while reducing environmental impact. The new additions include the ro-pax vessels Finncanopus and Finnsirius, alongside three Finneco ro-ro vessels.
CEO Tom Pippingsköld emphasized Finnlines’ vision for sustainable shipping, underlining the company’s leadership in green technology in the Baltic Sea. The ongoing efforts align with the company’s strategy to improve operational efficiency and environmental compliance.
