In Florida, the Associated Press reports that some citrus producers have turned to pongamia trees as a replacement for their previous trees that were killed by greening and citrus canker. In hopes that pongamia will be more climate resilient than citrus, Terviva buys the beans from the tree that are too bitter for even wild hogs to eat, removes the biopesticides that produces the bitter taste, and processes the legumes into oil for sustainable aviation fuel as well as high grade protein powders and flours.
