In France, a decree and an order defining the procedures for the return of Biogas Production Certificates (CPBs) were published in the Official Journal on July 7. This key measure of the Climate and Resilience Act aims to accelerate the development of biomethane production in France and to contribute to the achievement of energy transition objectives. Suppliers of natural gas will now have to secure CPBs in proportion to their volumes of natural gas delivered to customers in the residential and tertiary sector. This obligation will apply from January 1, 2026 and will gradually increase to 100% green gas in the networks by 2050.
