In Belgium, Reuters reports the German government has asked the European Commission to official launch an investigation into possibly fraudulent biodiesel exports from China following complaints that a rapid increase in Chinese supplies were negatively impacting biodiesel prices in Europe, especially in Germany and the Netherlands. The request specifically asks the EC to look at whether the imports comply with sustainability criteria, as there are concerns that cheaper oils rather than waste oils that get preferential market treatment are being blended into the Chinese-origin fuels.
