Green green hydrogen center opens in Brazil

October 5, 2023 |

In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that the Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silva, participated in the inauguration of the Green Hydrogen Center (CH2V) which seeks to become a hub for several research fronts for the use of green hydrogen in the country.

Located at the Federal University of Itajuba (UNIFEI) in the state of Minas Gerais, CH2V was built with an investment of $4.9 million from the German government. The facility’s laboratories can be used by institutions and companies interested in developing green hydrogen applications, including in the local steel industry.

Powered exclusively by solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, the center is scheduled to have in place a 300-kW green hydrogen production unit and a vehicle refueling station in 2024, according to the report.
