#7 Packaging material developed from spiky husks of durian fruit

Professor William Chen, NTU’s director of food science and technology, says the work involved shredding the husks into a cellulose powder, which is then used to make sheets of biodegradable material.

The resulting material degrades in a month when placed in soil and can be colored to make the packaging more attractive.
