In Kansas, KSCB News reports a groundbreaking ceremony was held for Southwest Airlines’ new SAFFiRE plant in Liberal, Kansas that will turn corn stover and husks into ethanol for Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The groundbreaking was led by U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – the co-chair of the Senate Sustainable Aviation Caucus, who introduced the Farm to Fly Act earlier this year in an effort to get the USDA to accelerate SAF production and development through existing programs.
