In South Korea, the Korea Times reports GS Caltex, POSCO and H-Line Shipping—representing oil refining, steelmaking and shipbuilding—have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to introduce a fleet of biofuel-powered ships. GS Galtex’s B30 Bio Marine Fuel is a blend of its heavy fuel oil and Korean bioenergy developer DS Dansuk’s UCO-based biofuel and has 65% lower carbon emissions than its purely fossil fuel equivalent. In September, GS Galtex supplied a container ship at Busan New Port before departing for Singapore as well as SAF to Korean Air flying from Incheon to Los Angeles.
