In the Netherlands, Platts report that despite increasing interest from the shipping industry to include bio-LNG in its fuel mix, prices remain prohibitively high for now, even after Hapag-Lloyd took the plunge earlier this year with half a million tons worth of bio-LNG commitments through 2026. Bio-LNG prices vary depending on GHG savings, with that of 89% GHG savings running at roughly double the price of LNG bunker fuel Rotterdam on a gigajoule basis, while that with 200% savings is roughly 6 times higher than fossil-based.
