Higher Performance, Carbon Negative Plastics, Maybe for Less: The Digest’s 2021 Multi-Slide Guide to ReSource Chemical

December 26, 2021 |

This slide is listed in terms of process complexity, but it really comes down to the use of sugars vs the use of CO2. Presumably we’re going to hear how we get to C6H4O5 from CO2 shortly, and why that’s less complex. The slide focuses on “the devil is in the details” with the problems if multiple solvents and moderate yields when starting from, say, C6H12O6.

The claims are quite remarkable. Reduces the number of steps by 70 percent and the CAPEX by 80 percent. The absence of co-products, high yields and the use of abundant and cheap friend water as a solvent. Brilliant!
