In Germany, Hintco has signed a €397 million contract with Fertiglobe to supply 19,500 tons of renewable ammonia to Europe in 2027, with deliveries projected to reach 397,000 tons by 2033. The ammonia will be produced at Fertiglobe’s Egypt Green Hydrogen plant, powered by 273 MW of new renewable electricity, which is being built in Egypt to support the project.
This agreement, following Fertiglobe’s win in Europe’s first H2Global pilot auction, aims to provide Europe with a sustainable energy supply while boosting Egypt’s renewable energy infrastructure. The contract is expected to advance both companies’ roles in decarbonizing global industries.
Hintco CEO Timo Bollerhey said, “As exciting as this moment is, my team is already focused on what comes next: new tenders for both clean hydrogen purchase and sales agreements. Time is short, and we must build both infrastructure and markets rapidly and efficiently if we’re to avoid climate catastrophe.”
