Höegh Autoliners exploring adding more ammonia dual-fuel capability car carriers

April 6, 2023 |

In Norway, Bunkerspot reports Höegh Autoliners, who has recently ordered eight ammonia dual-fuel capability LNG-fueled car carriers, is considering adding another four to its fleet. The vessels will be methanol and ammonia ready. The first of the vessels under construction by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co will already be ready by Q4 2024 but the decision to take on the addition vessels will depend on the demand demonstrated by customers. The financing for the vessels is available, but they want to make the decision based on the commercial situation since it says marine fuels are not yet commercially available to make voyages carbon zero.
