In Norway, Höegh Autoliners announced taking delivery of the DNV equipped “ammonia ready” and “methanol ready” Höegh Aurora at a naming ceremony at China Merchants Heavy Industry’s yard in Jiangsu, China. The Höegh Aurora is the first in the pure car and truck carrier segment capable of operating on carbon-neutral ammonia.

CEO Andreas Enger stated, “With Höegh Aurora and the Aurora Class, we are pioneering efforts to combat pollution in a hard-to-abate segment. The Aurora Class embodies the change our industry needs.”

The Höegh Aurora can carry up to 9,100 cars, including electric vehicles on all 14 decks. Its 1500 square meters of solar panels reduce generator electricity production by up to 35%, and it is equipped for emissions-free port operations with electric shore power.

COO Sebjørn Dahl highlighted the rapid development from concept to operation in under four years, emphasizing the commitment to achieving net-zero operations by 2040.
