In Norway, Höegh Autoliners announced the naming ceremony in Jiangsu, China, for the “Höegh Borealis”, the second vessel in its Aurora Class. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre attended, praising the company’s commitment to sustainable shipping.

The “Höegh Borealis” is part of Höegh Autoliners’ innovative fleet renewal, reducing carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58%. These vessels feature LNG-powered engines with the future capability to transition to green ammonia. Solar panels and shore power compatibility further enhance their green credentials. Boasting a capacity of 9,100 cars and built for electric vehicle transport, the Aurora Class reflects the shipping industry’s evolving focus on sustainability.

With the first Aurora Class ship set to run on green ammonia by 2027, Höegh Autoliners is working toward its 2040 net-zero emissions goal. The company has partnered with leading ammonia producers to secure fuel for its fleet, setting a new standard in deep-sea transportation.
