In Hungary, Hungary Today reported MOL Group increased biofuel production to over 200,000 tons annually through its subsidiary, Rossi Biofuel Zrt. This development is part of MOL’s ambitious “shape tomorrow” strategy, emphasizing renewable fuels such as biodiesel derived from sustainable sources including vegetable oils, animal fats, and recycled cooking oils.
Expanding beyond its borders, MOL now supplies blended fuels to nine countries, integrating biodiesel and bioethanol into several hundred thousand tons of fuel annually. Furthermore, MOL’s venture into advanced biodiesel, which utilizes waste products like used cooking oils and animal residues, reflects a sophisticated approach to waste-to-energy conversions.
In addition to its biofuel initiatives, MOL is exploring alternative energy technologies. Recently, the company inaugurated a green hydrogen plant capable of reducing its carbon dioxide emissions substantially. With these ventures, MOL not only aims to meet the escalating global energy demand but also positions itself as a leader in sustainable energy solutions in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
