Hydrogen rental car service debuts in Canary Islands with Hyundai NEXO

In Spain, El Periodico de Canarias reports on the Canary Island Fuerteventura, H2GO Repsol Morro Jable service station launched Spain’s first hydrogen-powered rental car service, featuring a fleet of Hyundai NEXO SUVs. The pioneering initiative by IR Maxoinversiones, in collaboration with Hyundai Canarias, marks a significant step towards sustainable mobility in the Canary Islands. This innovative service was established to offer a zero-emission transportation option for both tourists and residents, featuring six Hyundai NEXO vehicles powered by hydrogen alongside six 100% electric Hyundai IONIQ 5 models.

The hydrogen station with 700 bars of pressure, is the first of its kind in Spain, making it a key component in the island’s push towards renewable energy. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to support green energy solutions across the Canary Islands, with additional hydrogen refueling stations set to open in Puerto del Rosario and Corralejo by the end of the year.
