Hynion secures funding for new hydrogen refueling station in Örnsköldsvik

In Sweden, Hynion Sverige AB has been awarded SEK 18.21 million in funding from the Swedish Energy Agency’s Climate Leap initiative to cover 60% of the costs for establishing a hydrogen refueling station in Örnsköldsvik. This new station is part of Hynion’s strategic expansion of hydrogen infrastructure across Sweden, aimed at supporting both local and long-distance hydrogen-powered transport.

Örnsköldsvik, located along the key E4 transport route and intersecting with national routes 90 and 348, was chosen for its strategic importance in connecting major transportation corridors. The new refueling station will have a capacity of 2,000 kg of hydrogen per day, forming part of Hynion’s new generation of hydrogen stations. Similar stations are under construction in Västerås and Jönköping, further cementing Hynion’s role as a leader in Sweden’s hydrogen network.

The project received additional backing from the County Administrative Board of Västernorrland, in alignment with regional energy and climate strategies. Completion is expected by April 2026.

lavica Djuric, Hynion’s CEO said, “We are extremely pleased with this positive decision from the Swedish Energy Agency and the significant support from Climate Leap. This funding is crucial for our ambition to build a sustainable hydrogen infrastructure in Sweden, and it helps us accelerate the transition to cleaner transportation.”
