In India, the Business Standard reports that the Indian government, on one hand, has directed sugar mills to stop producing ethanol from sugarcane juice, although they can continue to produce ethanol from heavy-B molasses, while on the other hand it is contemplating the purchase of 100,000 metric tons of corn to supply ethanol distillers. The corn would be purchased at the minimum standard price established by the government. Lower sugarcane production this season has forced the government to readjust ethanol production to ensure it continues to blend at 20%.
