In India, the Economic Times newspaper reports ethanol blending passed 15.4% for the first time last month at 670 million liters of blended ethanol, well over the 515 million liters blended in April that tipped the scales over 12%. The current national average for the year that began in October is 12.6%, compared to 1.5% a decade ago and plans for 20% by next year. Already 14,600 fuel stations around the country offer 20% ethanol blends at the pump.
