In India, BNN Breaking reported that Indonesia’s state-run power company, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), has increased its biomass consumption for electricity generation to 1 million metric tons in 2023. This marks a 71% increase from the previous year, according to the report. PLN executed biomass co-firing in 43 coal-fired power plants throughout the year. The initiative is part of a broader plan to expand this practice to 52 plants by 2025. The power company reported that the shift to biomass has led to a reduction in carbon emissions b1.05 million tons of CO2 equivalent.
