Iowa Wholesale E85 Available for More Than $1.00 Less Than Regular Unleaded Gasoline
In Iowa, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association highlighted, via its E85 Wholesale Price Listing Program, that wholesale E85 ethanol is available for up to a $1.18 per gallon, or up to 54% discount per gallon compared to Des Moines Rack Average clear regular gasoline.
However, retail gasoline prices (E10) in Iowa are reported at $2.68, compared to the average E85 retail price in Iowa of $1.99, a 26.8 percent spread, according to E85prices.com. According to the E85prices.com data, gasoline is being marked up by $0.46 per gallon from wholesale to retail, while E85 is being marked up as much as $0.81 per gallon on the way to the consumer.
In Iowa, E85 is a fuel blend containing between 70 and 85 percent ethanol, depending on the season.
