Japan’s Ozu Biomass Power Plant kicks off commercial operations

In Japan, project sponsors MAEDA CORPORATION, Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX), Yonden Business Co.,Inc., and SHINKO DENSO co., ltd jointly announced that the Ozu Biomass Power Plant has achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) as scheduled on August 1, 2024.

The power plant is a biomass-only thermal power plant using wood pellets as fuel. With a power output of 50,000 kW and an annual power generation of approximately 350 million kWh, the power plant will be a facility that supports sustainable power supply as a renewable energy source that is not affected by the weather. All of them will be sold to Shikoku Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Company,

Incorporated (YONDEN T&D) for the next 20 years based on the Feed-in tariffs scheme (FIT) for renewable energy.
