In Spain, El Economista newspaper reports large olive oil producers enter the biomethane business in the province of Jaén. There are four projects underway to produce biogas from alpeorujo that require a joint investment of 137 million euros in the municipalities of Martos, Guarromán, Castellar and Mancha Real, financed through public-private collaboration. The Minister of Agriculture, Ramón Fernández Pacheco, announced yesterday aid of 41 million euros for these projects, which cover a third of the disbursement. Another third, at least, is supported by the producers Dcoop, Jaencoop and Interóleo in two cases, Migasa in another and also by El Tejar in the fourth. The rest of the planned investments are covered by private, not necessarily industrial, investments.
