#10 UK awards grant to Biome Technologies for bioplastic efforts

In the United Kingdom, a £6-million ($7.5 million) bioplastics development project between Biome Technologies and University of Nottingham has received government funding.
The £800,000 will be used by Biome and UN over two years to develop routes to bioplastic platform molecules, namely 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid, at pilot scale.
“The UK government has set a target of eliminating all avoidable plastic waste by 2042. Bioplastics will play a crucial role in achieving this target by reducing waste,” Paul Mines, Biome Technologies CEO, tells Waste Management World.
