In the United Kingdom, Waste2Tricity, a UK technology company developing hydrogen production technologies using waste plastic as the feedstock, has been offered a conditional £1.25m grant for its planned Plastics to Hydrogen Facility. The group providing the grant, Cheshire and Warrington, are looking to become a leading European center for low carbon energy technologies. The location of these waste plastic to hydrogen facilities, referred to as “Plastic Parks,” will ultimately allow for a countrywide plastic circular economy, with each site creating a local source of hydrogen while also mitigating the UK’s plastic waste problem.
