In Indiana, Louis Dreyfus opened its new glycerin refinery co-located at its soybean crushing and biodiesel facility in Claypool, becoming the country’s second-largest kosher glycerin factory with a capacity of 80 million pounds per year.Though the company has been marketing crude glycerin since it began producing biodiesel in 2007, the refinery allows it to produce kosher and halal-certified food grade glycerin but will also supply into other biomaterial markets for beauty care, automobiles and a wide range of other industries.
