Maersk’s first methanol ship sets sail to Copenhagen from South Korea

July 17, 2023 |

In South Korea, Safety4Sea reports Maersk’s first methanol ship has set sail from the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan on its way towards Copenhagen. The 2,100 TEU container ship was bunkered with ISCC certified green biomethanol by OCI. The company expects to receive the rest of its methanol-fueled fleet in 2024, so this closely watched voyage is being used as a training exercise to prepare for putting the new methanol fleet into action. The 21,500-kilometer journey from Ulsan, South Korea, to Copenhagen, Denmark can be tracked on https://www.maersk.com/all-the-way-to-zero/
