In Germany, MAN Energy Solutions announced New Times Shipbuilding in Jiangsu province, China, placed an order for twelve MAN Energy Solutions 8G95ME-GI gas injection Mk10.5 main engines. These advanced engines will power 12 new 18,000 TEU container vessels for Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping.
The ME-GI engines, recognized for their low methane slip and superior fuel efficiency, continue to set the standard in the maritime industry.
Thomas S. Hansen, Head of Two-Stroke Sales and Promotion, emphasized that the ME-GI’s mature technology makes it the most future-proof methane engine available. The engines’ ability to operate on bio-methane and synthetic natural gas further enhances their appeal, offering a viable pathway to decarbonization for shipowners. “The G95ME-GI Mk10.5 has been specified for more than 60 Very Large Container Vessel newbuilds in just the past two months.” Hansen said.
The ME-GI engine’s reputation for operational stability and seamless transition between gas and diesel modes reinforces its status as the leading environmentally-friendly technology in the LNG-fueled, two-stroke engine market.
