MASH Makes to trial bio bunker fuel on DS Norden vessel in Singapore

July 9, 2024 |

In Singapore, the Manifold Times newspaper reports Norden will trial Mash Makes’ biobunker this summer following recent engine trials by FVTR that showed the biofuel is compliant with the ISO 8217 fuel standard at a 20% blend. Mash Makes uses residues left after cashew nut shell liquid as feeding with a unique thermochemical process that includes pyrolysis and low-intensity, low-cost upgrading. Although this type of fuel has been explored for a decade, Mash Makes is the first process to make the fuel viable for the shipping industry.
