In Germany, Offshore Energy reports German shipyard Meyer Werft has successfully floated out Disney Treasure, the second LNG-powered cruise ship for Disney Cruise Line. The vessel, featuring 1,240 cabins and a size of 144,000 GT, has left the building dock and is now berthed in the shipyard’s harbor. The final interior outfitting of the ship will take place over the next few weeks.
Disney Treasure boasts low-emission LNG propulsion, reinforcing Disney Cruise Line’s commitment to environmentally friendly technologies. The keel for the cruise ship was laid at the beginning of 2023. Meyer Werft previously delivered Disney Treasure’s sister ship, Disney Wish, in 2022, and the third ship, Disney Destiny, is scheduled for delivery in 2025.
In a related development, the Oriental Land Company has commissioned Meyer Werft to build a Disney Wish-class cruise ship for the Japanese market, set to be delivered in 2028 and expected to commence operations by early 2029.
