In Canada, The Montreal Port Authority announced the Port of Montreal’s Grand Quay has been receiving Énergir supplied renewable natural gas since January 1, 2024. By switching from fossil natural gas to RNG for heating and cooking in its event spaces, the Grand Quay is supplied with 100% renewable energy.
The Grand Quay incorporates multiple sustainable development features including a large green roof, shore power for cruise ships, and an advanced organic waste management system which uses a Solucycle robot. These initiatives are part of the MPA’s broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035,
Benoit Viens, Senior Director, Real Estate and Environment, at the MPA said, “The MPA is fully engaged in decarbonizing its operations to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 and meet the ambitious objectives of the Montreal Climate Partnership. RNG is one of the most attractive solutions to achieve this quickly.”
