Naturgy and the Lecta Group signs RNG supply agreement for Spanish facilities

July 9, 2024 |

In Spain, Naturgy and the Lecta Group have signed a renewable gas supply agreement that will facilitate the efficient decarbonization of the industrial group’s activity. Biomethane, a renewable gas obtained from the treatment of different types of waste with qualities similar to those of natural gas, will be used by Lecta’s production centers located in Leitza (Navarra) and Zaragoza. This is the second major industrial agreement for the sale of biomethane by Naturgy after the one signed last January with Inditex.

The renewable gas supplied by Naturgy has certified Guarantees of Origin and Sustainability Tests so that the paper group can offset the emissions derived from its activity and comply with its sustainability commitments. This agreement represents an important milestone as it is the first large company in the paper sector within Naturgy’s client portfolio that will use biomethane in its production processes.

The supply volume signed between the parties is equivalent to the annual gas consumption of more than 800 homes and will prevent the emission of 740 tons of CO2 equivalent, which represents a volume of emissions similar to that of 500 cars.
