In the UK, Navigator Holdings, the world’s largest owner and operator of handysize liquefied gas carriers, announced a significant investment alongside Attis Clean Energy in Ten08 Energy LLC to develop a clean ammonia production facility on the U.S. Gulf Coast. This facility aims to produce 1.4 million metric tonnes of ultra-low carbon ammonia annually by late 2029/early 2030.
“This investment is yet another example of our commitment to growth through energy infrastructure projects and meaningfully supports our existing ammonia shipping business,” said Navigator CEO Mads Peter Zacho. “Clean ammonia is crucial to the success of the energy transition for both power generation and carbon-free shipping.”
Navigator’s $2.5 million commitment is part of a broader strategy to enhance their position in the clean energy market. The company has an option to invest up to $100 million towards the construction of the terminal and export infrastructure.
Jean Perarnaud, CEO of Ten08, stated, “Partnering with Navigator enables Ten08 to offer an integrated solution for delivering clean ammonia to our customers. Moreover, seaborne transportation of Ten08’s ammonia on ammonia-fueled gas carriers is an essential component of our vision of becoming industry leaders on low well-to-wake carbon intensity.”
