Neste investigation finds no truth to allegations of unsustainable supply chain

In Finland, the Dutch environmental organization Milieudefensie published a report “The Dark Side of Neste’s biofuel production” in November 2020 claiming Neste’s supply chain was unsustainable, which Neste followed up with a report.
Since then, Neste continued to investigate the allegations in cooperation with its suppliers. Gathering enough information to make decisions is a time-consuming task, as some of the allegations relate to companies with which the company has no direct contact. The collection of data requires action from several parties.

So far, investigations have not found evidence to support the allegations that raw material suppliers had caused deforestation equaling the area of Paris or committed other serious sustainability violations. Neste continues to investigate and monitor the progress of the investigations closely with our suppliers.
