#7 Ghana set to convert pineapple and coconut waste to plastics

In Ghana, ExoXpac is set to begin producing food packaging and beverage bottles from coconut husks and pineapple waste. The Danish company has partnered with Ghana’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research to develop the process.

Ghana has been working to upgrade its economy through technology. Gove Degnbol, Denmark’s Ambassador to Ghana, tells Ghana Web the venture will also help solve some of Ghana’s sanitation challenges. The country’s Millennium Development goals include several targets to reduce plastic waste.
