#5 The Netherlands grows the “Hydrogen Valley” with the purchase of 50 fuel cell buses

In the Netherlands, the Northern Times reports that a new government agreement will bring a total of 50 fuel cell buses to the area, despite having only 8 refueling stations for hydrogen public busses in the country. The Northern Netherlands will receive 20 busses, the province of South Holland will receive another 20 buses, and the Emmen region is expected to have ten hydrogen busses. Minister Stientje Van Veldhoven envisions that the number of refueling stations will be boosted along with the expansion of hydrogen buses: ‘Nowadays there are few gas stations for hydrogen buses, but that is, of course, a chicken-and-egg story…” Europe designated the area as the First “Hydrogen Valley” in Europe, which provides important support and publicity for the area. The integration of these buses contributes to the national agreement signed in 2016 that states that all public buses must be emission-free by 2030
