In New York state, as the deep freeze in the Midwest begins to thaw, the Mississippi River becomes passable again to barge traffic, and rail lines in Pennsylvania open back up, ethanol is able to make its way towards New York Harbor. As a result, prices are falling, bringing down the NY Harbor premium over Chicago to 10.25 cents/gal Friday from 11.75 cents at the end of last month. Export demand combined with transportation challenges that pushed prices higher than usual even for this time of year.
