In Canada, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador signed an agreement with the Port of Rotterdam, with the aim of encouraging the establishment of hydrogen supply chains to support Newfoundland and Labrador’s export of green hydrogen to the Netherlands and to other parts of Europe in the future.
“Our province is well-positioned to help meet the clean energy needs of key international partners like the Netherlands, thanks to our world-class wind resources, available Crown land and fresh water, highly renewable grid with surplus energy, deep marine ports, and proximity to markets in North America and Europe. I look forward to working together in the coming years to establish a prosperous hydrogen economy and a greener environment that will be beneficial for us all,” said Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador had previously signed declaration of intent with the City of Hamburg, Germany to cooperate in the field of hydrogen and hydrogen technologies.
“Newfoundland and Labrador’s renewable energy resources present significant opportunities within and outside the province. As we continue with our fair and transparent process for allocating Crown land for wind energy projects to power green hydrogen projects in our province, we are building relationships with other jurisdictions as demonstrated by this MOU with the Port of Rotterdam,” said Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
